Hi, I'm Randi! I'm a student, mapmaker, environmental activist, and musician. Currently, I am a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying cartography and GIS. I work as a student fellow in the UW Cartography Lab, where I have been learning the full scope of cartographic production. Additionally I work as a research assistant at the Jackson Agroecology Lab, whose research calls into question practical, management-oriented solutions and advancement in plant ecology theory. Previously I received a BS in Environmental Science from UW-Madison, where I was a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DDEEA) scholar, and first generation college student. Professionally my interests include intersections between natural resources, sustainability, social justice, Indigenous ways of knowing, and open-source cartography.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin, a child of corn, companion to the Great Lakes and Antigo Silt Loam. Growing up in the northwoods of the Midwest has informed my passions for being outdoors, native grass identification, soil and forest ecology, and craft breweries. In my personal life you can find me creating music, reading, running, or working as a barista.
